Jon Bullock for Redmond City Council

Meet Jon Bullock

Candidate for Redmond City Council

Jon Bullock is a Redmond City Councilor and the Executive Director of the Redmond Proficiency Academy, a proficiency-based charter school that he helped found.

For nearly 24 years, Jon has worked with young people as a teacher, coach, and administrator. As a community leader, he has developed a deep connection to the people in Redmond. Jon has combined his passion and skills as an educator with private sector and non-profit experience to develop one of the largest and most successful charter schools in Oregon.

Jon grew up in Roseburg, where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of giving back to his community. As a student, Jon discovered that education provided a path to opportunity, which led him to earn his bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University, his master’s degree from Willamette University, and his doctoral degree from the University of Oregon. Jon’s experiences in postsecondary education have confirmed his belief that every young person deserves a quality education, and he has built his career around that principle. Recently, Jon was appointed to the Southern Oregon University Board of Trustees.

“Serving my community has long been a personal and professional focus of mine, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Redmond as a city councilor. I love Redmond, and I want to ensure it continues to be the best place in Central Oregon to live, work, raise a family, and retire.”

He gave a TEDx talk that challenged people to be honest with themselves and those around them about their hopes, dreams, fears, and failures. These ideas are at the core of his leadership philosophy, and they inform his approach to public education and building community.

Jon currently serves as President of the Redmond Executive Association and has served as the Chair of the Kids Helping Kids Division of Children’s Miracle Network in Eugene, Oregon. Additionally, he has served on the Executive Council of the National Association of Student Councils, worked as a mentor with the Oregon Association of Student Councils, and volunteered with Sparrow Clubs, USA.
